Dear AMICO's

I received the following this morning from the University of Texas. Fascinating to think that students are already wishing for the things that we are just beginning to envision supplying

Subject: Excited!

I was just thrilled to see that we at UT will be participating in the testbed for images. I received the following from an Art History major, a propos of "how I would teach art history in the future" for a methods course:

"In this database, in addition to the lectures and all artwork discussed in class, there would be different areas to further educate the student if he/she were interested. There would be an area that would lead to a site where you would search in detail the historical background for any period, artist, or country. One button would explain how groups of people were related historically and chronicle epic migrations. One would have maps through history. One would group art by type, ex. the figure study or the landscape. One would be a searchable index of the world's great religions. One would explain movements such as abstract expressionism and fauvism. One would have biographies of the artists, then there would be links to other art sites on the World Wide Web."

Just to let you know that there are students out there with the foresight to already feel the need you hope to fill. What do you see the student role in trial run to be? Marcia
