Kudos on the thorough and extensive AMICO FAQs posted. I have a few questions on the section below: "Access to the AMICO Library " Is AMICO developing a network of museums? No. AMICO is using existing distribution systems to reach educational licensees. [what is the question and what is the answer?] Is AMICO using special technology? No. The AMICO Library conforms to existing data standards and well known MIME types. [Could the answer be simpler for fear of offending the techno-phobes among our clients. I am not entirely sure what MIME types are myself.] Also, the section on AMICO fees was news to me. When was this decided? Finally, the section on AMICO members not getting anything back is a bit severe. Can we try an upbeat spin about how we are all gaining because of the collaborative spirit of this? Little was said about the distinguishing quality and content of AMICO versus other efforts. No mention of the present size of the AMICO library. Is that on purpose? The FAQ section is very long. Might try to condense it for the casual reader. I urge all my colleagues on the Users & Uses Committee to review the FAQ before it goes out tomorrow. Stephanie Stebich, Cleveland Museum of Art. |
