Dear Annie,

Thanks very much for your note. Sorry I've taken a while to get back to you - I've been out of the office over the holidays.

You raise a significant concern; we would have to come to a working agreement with VAGA and ARS regarding the interpretation of how copyright applies. If Museums already have agreements with artists, these works would be outside any AMICO-wide agreement.

My thought would be that we'd ask ARS and VAGA to provide us with lists of works/artists that were covered (since they can't guarantee all of their members woudl agree). The AMICO would circulate lists to AMICO members outlining what would be covered by an agreement. The AMICO member would then tell AMICO if they would like to contribute a work under it.

Does this seem logical to you?

All the best for the New Year,

jennifer
