I agree with Alan Newman on his disagreement with the suggestion for a mobile image truck. Scanning equipment is becoming ever cheaper, digital cameras are also improving in leaps and bounds. Museums will have to get used to this new technology and have it in house or share it with a neighboring institution. Museums could, also, send their images out to be scanned (at a high cost) and then monitor the color correction (as needed). Maybe I am gung-ho on in-house scanning as we just got approval for our first serious scanner purchase.
