Dear Editorial Committee,

I'm having trouble figuring out the best role of the AMICO CRN (creator name) field when the artist has a pseudonym.

Say the attribution for a print in our record is "Jacopo Negretti (called Palma Giovane)." So that whole thing goes into the CRT (creator name text) field and, I'm assuming, shows up just that way in the online record.

In the CRN field, then, I'm supposed to invert the artist's name, index-style. In an index I could include both names and cross-reference them. But here I have just one shot, and it would be nice to provide people with as many opportunities as possible to turn up this record. (It would also help to know exactly how the searches will work...I'm sort of in the dark about that...)

Have you confronted this question?

Sincerely,

Margaret Gray
