Call For Papers Research Conference on Educational Use of Museum Multimedia: the case of the Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO) Library Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania June 3-4, 1999 AMICO seeks proposals for reports of results and observations from the AMICO University Testbed Project, to be presented to a joint meeting of Testbed Participants and AMICO Members. Goals and Objectives In the fall of 1998, a select group received early access to the digital library of museum multimedia created by the Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO) as delivered by the Research Libraries Group (RLG). Research projects have been ongoing on each of these campuses exploring the many issues and challenges of integrating museum multimedia into university teaching and research. Proposals are invited for papers and presentations that report on the University Testbed Experience, and address its Research Objectives. See http://www.amico.org/univ/univtestbed/u.objectives.html This two-day meeting will bring together researchers engaged in the University Testbed project, and AMICO Members, so that they can report and discuss their studies and observations. We hope the many participants in the AMICO University Testbed Project will enjoy an open dialogue with each other and with AMICO Members that will build a better understanding of the issues involved in creating and using the AMICO Library. We look forward to a lively exchange of opinions and observations and the discussion of conclusions among a group of informed and engaged researchers. Publication Selected papers from the Research Conference will be published as a special issue of Archives and Museum Informatics; the cultural heritage informatics quarterly, a peer-reviewed journal from Kluwer Academic Publishers. Proposals A one paragraph (500 word) abstract of the proposed paper, demonstration, or presentation should be emailed to Jennifer Trant, Executive Director, Art Museum Image Consortium(AMICO) jtrant@amico.org.
