We have arranged with RLG to allow each AMICO institution to replace its current file with a corrected file as long as it is done before the end of this month. The files, as delivered to RLG can be found on the server at Focus Computing: http://www2.focusc-clients.com (with the usual user id and password).

RLGās reports about errors with their comments are at: http://kelley.rlg.org/amico/status (also with the usual user id and password). Their listing also contains lists of unique values in certain indexed fields.

If you would like to correct errors, we need your replacement file by midnight on Tuesday May 26. No extensions. You have an opportunity to make the specific corrections for which errors have been noted, to correct values revealed in the RLG lists, or to correct or add data elsewhere, but remember that we have made corrections, in some cases extensive corrections, to your data before passing it along to RLG THEREFORE, MAKE YOUR CHANGES ON A COPY OF THE FILE DOWNLOADED FROM THE FOCUSC SITE and then ftp the new file back to that site. DO NOT MAKE A NEW FILE, please.

Please DO look at the reports RLG wrote with the unique values of the searchable fields. They reveal some oddities (misspelled words in some records; unusual editorial practices that cause odd sorting, like the use of parentheses, brackets, quotation marks and other symbols as part of text strings or at the beginning of some field occurrences).

!NOTE! We have corrected some of the systematic errors RLG found in your data for you. This means you do not have to do anything to correct these Īerrorsā. Specifically, we fixed the following things which RLG reported:

AGO_ Sortable names are in CRT, display versions are in CRN; this should be the other way around.

CCP_ Some records have incorrect characters for those beyond lower- range ASCII. e.g., OTN fields in records CCP_.93:006:099, CCP_.93:006:080

FASF Invalid character (not Latin1) at the start of OTN in FASF.138703, FASF.138709, others.

JPGM Sortable names are in CRT, display versions are in CRN, should be the other way around.

LACM Commas in names in CRN lack a following space.

MMA_ Owner name typo: OONThe Metropolitain Museum of Art}~

BMFA Image files have names ending in ".TIF" but RIL elements include names that end in ".tif"

WAC_ Invalid (not Latin1) character at start of OTN field in WAC_.77.71 and WAC_.77.68
