The Herron Art Library/University Library-IUPUI met to begin to look at the testbed goals/objectives related to our participation in the project. We had a number of questions which were sent to Jennifer Trant and David Bearman. I am sending relevant questions/answers to this discussion list so that others may benefit from Jennifer's response. Regards, Sonja Staum-Kuniej Herron Art Library sstaum@library.iupui.edu ??1.We (Herron/University Library) understand that the access to the AMICO Image library is authenticated by IP addresses - when do you need our IP addresses? You'll hear from RLG shortly about authentication methods, which should be by both IP address and password [so that you dont have to be in a particular place to use the library]... ??2.Will remote access user id/password be the same as recently provided (testbed/groundzero)? or, Does AMICO or the testbed organization (Herron/IUPUI) supply a different userid/password to remote users? We expect this to be different. It will be assigned by RLG. ??3.Will AMICO supply Herron/University Library with usage stats for IUPUI? This is also a question for RLG. Our understanding is yes, that RLG will share statistics, and is interested in learning about usage. There is still a lot to work out about what kinds of reports, log excerpts, etc might be useful. ??4.We looked at Michael Robertson's web page (RIT) with the AMICO dbase - If we (IUPUI) want faculty to access the AMICO dbase prior to July 1, should we be considering similar avenues of distribution/promotion in the short term? We're looking for a way to get the 'real' data up before this date, but it isn't definite. We've created an AMICO FAQ, though, that is linked to the site, and that you can use to let your faculty know about the project. ??5.When will the license agreement be available? The one we currently have states "Sample draft V0.1 - not final - not to be executed". That's the RLG Museum Object Record Service Agreement, which governs the RLG delivery of the AMICO Library. The AMICO University Agreement - the license - will be posted to the University Testbed Web site this week. I'll check with RLG and get back to you with a date for the other agreement. |
