Michael Robertson (Wallace Library, RIT) asked whether we could change the RLG-assigned password for the RIT access to the Testbed each quarter. Our response may interest others.

Michael,

We can change the password for RIT access to the AMICO testbed quarterly, if you'd like; you can send mail to Alice Tow (ayt@notes.rlg.org) when you're ready for a change. Or you may find it more convenient to control access more directly yourself. In the fall, we'll be offering the option of scripted access to the testbed (as we do to our Eureka search service) using WebScript (a CGI application distributed by OCLC that provides a method for institutions to distribute access to Web-based services without releasing the institution's account number and password). General information about WebScript is available at http://www.rlg.org/eureka.startup.html although the particulars there--and the model script--are specific to Eureka, rather than to the AMICO testbed, and so won't be useful in their present form. This alternative would give you a way to interpose a password (or other access control) of your own.
